Nestled in a small cluster of 5 chalets, at an altitude of 1,220 metres, Chalet L'Avant Poste is ideally situated for those looking for the perfect "Ski in, Ski out" holiday.
The traditional wooden chalet, constructed in 2002, is located just 50 metres (or a snowball's throw) from the nearest chairlift and two pistes, making it one of the few chalets in the area from which it is possible to ski into and ski out of. To one side of the chalet lies the famous "Vert Kandahar" mens' world championship downhill ski run, which takes you down to the "Bellevue" cable car on the edge of the village of Les Houches. To the other side of the chalet is an easy red run which leads to the "Le Prarion" gondola lift in the valley bottom.
Chalet L'Avant Poste has four bedrooms with ample accommodation for 8/10 people.
On the top floor, there are two twin rooms and a double room. Two of these rooms have doors opening onto a balcony which looks straight onto the Aiguille de Midi and enjoys the morning sun. There is also a bathroom with heated towel rail, toilet, sink, full size double ended bath with shower over.
The chalet enjoys fantastic views of the Mont Blanc range of mountains, and looks straight onto the "Aiguille de Midi" and the "Aiguille Vert". The open plan living and dining area has two double patio doors leading onto a balcony which spans 3 sides of the house. The balcony is a real sun trap and outdoor furniture is provided to allow guests to take advantage of the beautiful views and the sunshine. The chalet benefits from central heating, and also has a very efficient modern wood burning stove which creates a warm and cosy atmosphere when lit.
The open plan kitchen on the same floor is very well equipped, with a large fridge with freezer compartment, microwave/grill, induction hob, full sized oven, sink and dishwasher. Also provided are a fondue set, slow cooker, raclette machine and all the kitchen utensils and equipment you are likely to need during your stay. There are even a few recipe books to wet your appetite!
Next to the guest loo is an open staircase leading down to a utility area with a washing machine and tumble dryer and storage space. A door leads to an area with a further bathroom with shower, toilet and sink, and next to this is a very spacious bedroom with built in wardrobes and two single beds (which can be made into a double) and also a sofa bed, offering a combination of flexible sleeping arrangements. This room also benefits from a further tv, video and play station, so can double as an area for youngsters to amuse themselves while adults relax upstairs in front of the fire.
