Les Houches

The village of Les Houches has two supermarkets, and a string of restaurants and bars. There is a village church and post office, and once a week there is a local market.
Les Houches has a pretty lake with course fishing. This is just by the tennis courts, together with the outdoor children's play area at Les Chavants, near the bottom of the ski slopes (Green pastures for the sheep and cows in the Summer). There is also a small outdoor climbing area, and a children's adventure tree trail. In the winter there is a children's ski kindergarten.

On the edge of the village is an excellent indoor climbing wall with many challenging routes.

It is possible to walk to Les Houches from the Chalet L'Avant Poste, however the return leg is all uphill. For this reason we do recommend having a car available during your stay. Les Houches is about a 10 minute drive from Chamonix.
